Mechanism to run apps from command line/no ui/shortcut
M
Mark West
Many VDI solutions provide the ability for applications to run in an application presentation mode (MS refer to this as remote app).
This has a number of advantages
- Resources - just the app you want runs on your resources.
- user experience - user justs sees the application itself - no additional OS UI. i.e. no second start button (or if your a mac user a windows interface on macos).
Now that S2 have withdrawn the shortcut management option, there's no option to re-use a cloudpaging appset in this fashion.
This then drives us towards "other solutions" possibly even packaging using another virtualisation tool just to get the desired presentation. None of this is an efficient use of our time and may ultimately lead customers to other solutions.

Please note that following feedback we have decided to extend the notice period for removal of the shortcut management feature whilst we seek further feedback. See revised article regarding deprecation here: https://docs.appsanywhere.com/appsanywhere/3.1/removal-of-shortcut-management
